Stepping into the spotlight at the 15th anniversary of the Silicon Valley Film Festival, I wanted my outfit to make a statement — one that reflects not just my personal style but also the rich cultural heritage of Cameroon.
Dress: A Masterpiece of Artistry
The centerpiece of my look was a bespoke black velvet mermaid dress designed by the incredibly talented Sulet Noir. This piece features exquisite ruffled rosette details and is meticulously crafted with handcrafted suede threading, all inspired by the distinctive Bamenda traditional attire. The intricate designs and vibrant motifs of Bamenda attire, particularly the renowned ‘toghu,’ embody the artistic craftsmanship and rich heritage of the Northwest region of Cameroon. Sulet Noir has seamlessly blended these cultural elements with contemporary elegance, creating a dress that celebrates Cameroonian pride while highlighting the significance of heritage and identity in modern fashion.
Shoes: Effortless Elegance
Completing the ensemble were my chic Women’s Strappy Heels from the Podaik Store. With clear straps and a chunky block heel, these sandals strike the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. The transparent, open square-toe design adds a modern touch, making them ideal for weddings or any dressy occasion. These mule-heeled sandals are versatile enough for any special event, perfectly complementing my overall look. Shop here.
Accessories: Thoughtful Touches
The accessories were just as important as the outfit itself. I carried an elegant acrylic clutch purse with a marbled design and pearl chain by the Jessie Store, perfect for an evening out. My headwrap, available here, added a striking touch to my ensemble.
I also donned a stylish pair of glasses and stunning earrings that elevated the overall aesthetic. My watch, a classic piece from Anne Klein, was the finishing touch, ensuring that I was not only stylish but also punctual. View here.

A Heartfelt Thank You

I am incredibly grateful to the talented Cameroonian designer @SuletNoir for creating my main look and a second outfit crafted in beautiful Bamileke fabric. Each piece was pure magic, weighing in at an impressive 10 pounds of artistry.
