The Black Creatives Social Club is a creative ecosystem. Founded by Ricki Nelson with the mission to Create, Collaborate, and Cultivate, the club connects Black creatives across film, television, digital media and the arts. It’s a space built intentionally for connection, accountability, and empowerment, where collaboration replaces competition and creativity becomes a shared journey.

Members of the community often describe BCSC as a safe space to dream and do, a place where you can pitch that wild idea, get feedback from other Black creators who get it, and find the kind of creative kinship that can take a project from concept to screen.

The BCSC Writers’ Room is an 8-week intensive running from Tuesday, January 20th to Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, held virtually from 7 PM to 9 PM EST. The program is structured to give participants the tools, feedback, and structure needed to make real progress on their scripts, whether that’s a TV pilot, feature-length screenplay, or a fresh story concept waiting to bloom.

This isn’t just a writing class, it’s a creative incubator. You’ll be surrounded by a small cohort of driven Black writers, all dedicated to pushing each other toward excellence through constructive feedback, story development sessions, and weekly accountability check-ins.

What You Need to Apply

Applications are open to creatives who are 18 years and older and currently based in a state located on the East Coast (EST) or Midwest (CT) time zones. Since all sessions are virtual and held in EST, accessibility and consistency are key.

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • A logline and synopsis are ready

  • A writing sample that reflects their voice and vision

  • A willingness to sign an NDA to protect intellectual property (because your stories matter and so does your ownership of them)
