Maya Boyd Is Storm in Marvel’s X-Men Reboot

Maya Boyd joins Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated X-Men reboot as Ororo Munroe, taking on the mantle of Storm in the next chapter of the mutant franchise.

Maya Boyd has been cast as Storm in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, bringing the young actor into one of Marvel’s most recognisable mutant franchises.

The casting was announced at D23, where Marvel confirmed Boyd as the latest actor to take on the role of Ororo Munroe, the mutant superhero better known as Storm. The character is one of the most prominent figures in X-Men history, possessing the ability to manipulate weather and commanding a long-standing place within Marvel’s comic-book mythology.

Boyd’s casting places her in a role previously portrayed on screen by Alexandra Shipp and Halle Berry, whose performances helped establish Storm as one of the franchise’s most recognisable characters across its earlier film adaptations.

The new X-Men film is being developed as part of Marvel Studios’ expanding cinematic universe, with the project expected to introduce a new iteration of the mutant team following the conclusion of Fox’s long-running X-Men film series.

For Boyd, the role represents a significant arrival on one of Hollywood’s largest stages. Storm carries particular weight within the X-Men mythology: a character whose identity has historically existed at the intersection of superhero spectacle, leadership and questions of belonging.
