Sasha Calle Joins Jamie Foxx in Amazon MGM’s Action Thriller Deadlocked

Sasha Calle is adding another major studio project to her growing filmography, joining Jamie Foxx in Deadlocked, the upcoming action thriller from Amazon MGM Studios. Calle, known for The Flash and Netflix’s The Rip, has been cast in a major role opposite Foxx in the feature, which is directed by Indian filmmaker Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. The casting marks another significant step in Calle’s increasingly international career.
Deadlocked follows a grieving former Marine serving jury duty whose day takes a dangerous turn when a high-profile trial becomes a hostage crisis. The defendant’s daughter takes control of the courthouse in an attempt to free her father, forcing the former Marine back into action. The screenplay comes from Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack, based on their original idea. Production brings together Range Media Partners, C2 Motion Picture Group and Jamie Foxx’s Foxxhole Productions, with Foxx also serving as a producer.
Deadlocked marks a significant new chapter in Bhat’s career. After gaining international recognition with the Hindi-language action thriller Kill, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023, the filmmaker is now making his transition into English-language Hollywood filmmaking with the Amazon MGM project. The project is being developed for global streaming on Prime Video, although a release date has not yet been announced.
For Calle, the new role follows a run of high-profile projects. She recently appeared opposite Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in Joe Carnahan’s Netflix crime thriller The Rip, which spent six weeks among Netflix’s global Top 10 films. She is also starring alongside Colin Farrell in the second season of Apple TV’s Sugar and is set to appear opposite Scarlett Johansson in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming The Exorcist film for Universal.
With Calle and Foxx now leading the cast, and Bhat making his Hollywood feature debut, Deadlocked brings together talent from different corners of the global film industry for what could become another significant action title for Prime Video.
