Africa Magic is entering its next storytelling era—and it’s being shaped by a new generation of writers who blend bold ideas, cultural insight, and creative risk-taking. These are the writers who remind us why Africa Magic still feels fresh, real, and deeply rooted.


Kuchi Chris

Kuchi Chris is well on her way to becoming a household name. With writing credits on over eight Africa Magic/Showmax-commissioned shows, she is a talent that simply can’t be overlooked. Her first notable credit came on Nwanyi Ike, and since then, she has been an unstoppable force. Known and respected for her sharp wit and even sharper turnaround time, Kuchi has proven she can thrive within the high-pressure environment of the frica Magic writers’ room. We look forward to seeing her name attached to even more shows, and to witnessing her continued brilliance in both film and television.

Nosa Isibor

Another writer with an impressive track record is Nosa Isibor, with writing credits on over seven Afmag shows - it is evident that she is here to make a lasting mark in the TV space. Her first notable writing credit came with Masquerades of Aniedo, a 130-episode primetime hit. Since then she has worked on other impressive shows, some even AMVCA-nominated. Nosa Isibor is a disciplined, tenacious, and passionate writer, but above all, she is a joy to work with. Her enthusiasm, optimism, and creativity bring a refreshing energy to every writer’s room she enters. We’re excited to witness her rising success/growth in the TV and film space.

Chinazaekpere Chukwu

Though best known for her directorial debut “Ti E Nbo”, Chinazaekpere “Gail” Chukwu has left a mark on Africa Magic through her writing. Her first notable experience in an Africa Magic writers’ room was on Dust, where she served as a writer and story intern - an early display of her storytelling depth, which has only grown since then. This growth is evident in the gripping shows she has contributed to, such as Our Husband and Uriri, where she excelled as both a writer and story editor. Gail is truly a force to be reckoned with; her growth in the Africa Magic space has been nothing short of impressive, a testament to her professionalism, relentless work ethic, and daringness as a writer. It would come as no surprise to see her credited as a head writer in the near future.

Emy Joseph

A genre-savvy writer with a flair for character-driven storytelling, Emy Joseph is undoubtedly one to watch. She is one of the talented writers behind the hilarious Netflix series Becoming Abi and began her journey in the Africa Magic space in 2022. Since then, she has written for shows such as Sin, 10th Avenue, Italo, and more. Emy has since risen to the role of story editor, most notably shaping the story of the thrilling and thought-provoking 130-episode primetime show The Yard. Her ability to blend warmth, realism, and wit makes her a standout voice in the Africa Magic writers’ circle. As a young writer actively creating space for other emerging talents, Emy’s career is a reflection of her drive, ambition, and creative vision. Her trajectory is more than outstanding - the sky is truly her stepping stone.

Mannie Oiseomaye

Winner of the 2022 AMVCA for Best Writer for Introducing The Kujus, Mannie has quickly proven his knack for reinvigorating classic stories. His co-writing credit on I AM ANIS (2025) further showcases his bold, genre-savvy storytelling - cementing his place as one of Nollywood’s most reliable creative voices. Mannie is the poster boy for fresh, engaging, and bold writing. With impressive credits on Africa Magic/Showmax-commissioned shows like Unscripted, Sin, and Under the Influence, as well as on acclaimed projects like The Smart Money Woman and Makemation, it’s clear: he’s the Gen Z whisperer with the Midas touch. We eagerly anticipate everything Mannie will create next, because if history is any indicator, it’s going to be nothing short of brilliant.

Great Opara

Rounding off the list is one of the few male names making waves in Africa Magic’s writer ecosystem is Great Opara. Great has served as story editor on Dust, Uriri, Our Husband, and more. With thousands of minutes of primetime television to his credit—including his work as a writer on the AMVCA award-winning show My Fairytale Wedding—he masterfully blends mass appeal with culturally rich African nuance. He’s exactly the kind of high-caliber storyteller who speaks the Africa Magic language fluently. Beyond his talent, Great is a dependable team player with a clear knack for problem-solving. A man of few words but impactful actions, he is poised to continue delivering remarkable work in the TV space.
