Viola Davis (Fences, How to Get Away with Murder) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, The Trial of the Chicago 7) are set to star in—and produce—a reimagining of the 1987 David Mamet classic House of Games at Amazon MGM Studios. The news, first reported by Deadline, confirms that Davis will produce through JuVee Productions alongside Julius Tennon and Melanie Clark, while Abdul-Mateen’s House Eleven10 banner will also be involved.
House of Games - The Tell (1987)
The original House of Games, written and directed by David Mamet, follows psychiatrist Margaret Ford (Lindsay Crouse) as she becomes entangled in the seedy world of high-stakes gambling while helping a patient, Mike Mancuso (Joe Mantegna), confront his fears. This Amazon MGM adaptation promises to bring a fresh, contemporary twist to the psychological thriller.

Davis is coming off her lead role in the action thriller G20—now streaming on Prime Video—while Abdul-Mateen II nears his title turn in Marvel’s Wonder Man series set to debut on Disney+ in December. He’s also busy as executive producer and star of Netflix’s upcoming thriller Man on Fire, along with projects like By Any Means, By All, Emergency Contact, The Scent of Burnt Flowers, and I Helped Destroy People.
This development comes as Amazon MGM Studios continues to build a compelling content slate: most recently acquiring rights to Saltburn after its Venice premiere and greenlighting Road House for Prime Video, further expanding their portfolio of adaptations and star-driven projects.
