CAMIFF 2025: Celebrating Cameroonian Cinema with Historic Moments and Prestigious Awards.

The Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF) 2025 concluded on April 26 in Buea, marking a significant milestone in the nation's cinematic journey. This year's festival was not just a celebration of film but a testament to Cameroon's growing influence in the global entertainment industry.
The festival honoured outstanding talents and productions:
Overall Best Actor: Nollywood's Enyinna Nwigwe received this accolade for his compelling performance in Choke Hold, a Caribbean action drama addressing domestic violence.
Best Screenplay: Choke Hold Movie also secured this award, highlighting its powerful narrative and cross-continental collaboration.
Film of the Year: Half Heaven, directed by Johnscott Enah, was recognised for its excellence and has been nominated for the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Award.
Lifetime Achievement Award: Veteran actress Ngongang Elizabeth was honoured for her contributions to Cameroonian cinema, notably in Half Heaven and the TV series Bad Angel.
Best Online Social Media Creator: Godisz Fungwa, popularly known as "Richard," received this award, sponsored by Nigerian actress Ruth Kadiri, acknowledging his impact in digital storytelling.
Honorary Award: Nigerian actor Alex Ekubo was celebrated for his efforts in promoting Cameroonian culture and his role as a guest trainer during the festival.
The closing ceremony was marked by two significant events:
Cameroon Wall of Fame: Twenty-one iconic figures, including Petit Pays, Zack Orji, and Lucie Memba, were inducted, honouring their contributions to the entertainment industry and the inauguration of this monument in Buea paid tribute to the legacy of one of Cameroon's pioneering leaders.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries such as the South West Region Governor, the Lord Mayor of Buea, Chiefs Dr. Esuka Endeley and Manga-Williams, and ambassadors from the United States, India, and Australia.
CAMIFF 2025 featured a series of workshops and masterclasses aimed at nurturing emerging talents.
As CAMIFF 2025 concludes, the festival's impact resonates beyond the awards and ceremonies. It has set a new benchmark for Cameroonian cinema, fostering collaborations, celebrating talent, and honouring the nation's rich cultural heritage.
