Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Captivates Silicon Valley in a Literary Evening of Insight and Reflection
Adichie’s Dream Count trains its eye on four women in a sparkling, transcendent story that takes up the very nature of love itself.

On the evening of March 8, 2025, literature enthusiasts and cultural thought leaders gathered at the Hammer Theatre in San Jose for an unforgettable conversation with acclaimed writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Hosted by the Kepler Literary Foundation, and promoted by the Silicon Valley Film Festival (SVAFF) with representatives including founder Chike Nwoffiah, the event brought together intellectuals, creatives, and book lovers to celebrate Adichie’s literary legacy and the launch of her highly anticipated novel, Dream Count.

In conversation with Key Jo Lee, Chief of Curatorial Affairs and Public Programs at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD), Adichie shared profound insights on love, self-discovery, and the power of storytelling. Dream Count, a decade in the making, explores the complexities of human relationships, the choices that define us, and the raw truth of love’s fleeting yet transformative nature.

The evening was filled with engaging dialogue, as Adichie reflected on her journey as a storyteller, her influence on global literature, and her perspective on contemporary social issues. Attendees were drawn to her signature blend of wit, wisdom, and unfiltered honesty, making it a night of deep reflection and literary celebration. A highlight of the night was the beautifully curated Igbo traditional welcome ceremony, organized by the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) and its founder. The Nigerian Igbo community in San Jose showed up in full force, adding a deeply personal and vibrant touch to the occasion. Special thanks to Heather Birchall and the Kepler’s Literary Foundation team for bringing this unforgettable event to Silicon Valley.
