Something BIG is happening in Africa! Filmhouse Group just teamed up with the Africa Film Finance Forum (AFFF) between September 16–18 to help African filmmakers get more financial support, collaborate with others, and make sure African films are seen not just locally but also worldwide.

Before the main summit (on Sept 15th), Filmhouse Group and the British Council hosted a pre-event cocktail. It was a networking session where filmmakers, investors and cultural leaders met, talked and built connections to support Africa’s creative economy.

The Theme for this Year’s Forum is “Pan-African Film Economy: Building a $20 Billion Industry for 1.4 Billion People.” The goal was to figure out how Africa can grow its film industry into a huge, thriving sector. During the 3-day summit, Filmhouse Group played an active role in highlighting African filmmakers, ensuring their voices and stories were positioned to reach global audiences.

Filmhouse wasn’t just a spectator. Ladun Awobokun of FilmOne Entertainment shared insights on turning bold visions into viable projects, proving that African storytelling is ready for the global stage. And Mary Ephraim-Egbas, Convener of AFFF, highlighted the bigger picture: “Our stories are powerful. With the right frameworks and partnerships, Africa’s film industry isn’t just growing, it’s poised to become a $20 billion powerhouse.”
