In a chilling echo of U.S. isolationism during World War II—but this time aimed at specific regions—former President Trump has expanded his travel ban to fully restrict entry from 12 countries, with 36 more—mostly in Africa—on notice under a 60-days.

As The New York Times reported:

“President Trump is considering expanding a new travel ban to as many as 36 additional countries, most of which are in Africa”

12 Countries Fully Banned (effective June 9, 2025):

Afghanistan · Chad · Republic of the Congo · Equatorial Guinea · Eritrea · Haiti · Iran · Libya · Myanmar · Somalia · Sudan · Yemen.

7 Countries with Partial Restrictions:

Burundi · Cuba · Laos · Sierra Leone · Togo · Turkmenistan · Venezuela.

36 Countries on 60-Day Compliance Clock:

Angola · Antigua & Barbuda · Benin · Bhutan · Burkina Faso · Cabo Verde · Cambodia · Cameroon · Côte d’Ivoire · DRC · Djibouti · Dominica · Egypt · Ethiopia · Gabon · Gambia · Ghana · Kyrgyzstan · Liberia · Malawi · Mauritania · Niger · Nigeria · St. Kitts & Nevis · St. Lucia · São Tomé & Príncipe · Senegal · South Sudan · Syria · Tanzania · Tonga · Tuvalu · Uganda · Vanuatu · Zambia · Zimbabwe.

Our Take:

Oh wow, 👀. Back in WWII, U.S. isolationism hit everyone. Now? It's laser-focused on a set of mostly non-white, lower-income nations. This is not quarantine by chance—it’s quarantine by design. We’re watching this unfold with popcorn in hand, because if history taught us anything, it’s that shutting out “others” rarely protects anyone—not power, not safety, not unity.

We’re watching this space, popcorn in hand.
