Let’s talk about fashion at the AMVCA this year, ’cause what??? I am blown away.
From the moment the stars began to arrive at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA), it was clear we weren’t just attending another red carpet moment — we were witnessing a full-blown exhibition of Black creativity, glamour, and storytelling, all stitched into fabric. This year, the fashion didn’t just speak; it screamed heritage, drama, and a redefinition of African elegance. Our celebs didn’t come to play — they came as walking art, blending cinema, culture, and couture. Let’s get into some of the most talked-about looks and the visionaries behind them.

Theme: Mother Earth
Osas arrived embodying the essence of nature in a gown that mirrored the earth's rich tapestry. Designed by Nigerian designer Veekee James, the dress featured intricate patterns in shades of green, brown, and soft grey, reminiscent of natural landscapes. Golden-brown beads outlined these patterns, resembling tree rings, while mushroom-like embellishments added an earthy charm. The pièce de résistance was a twig-like structure at the back, branching out to form a crown-like silhouette, symbolising a deep connection to nature.
2. Nana Akua Addo in Metal Bender Studio & Nicole Stylish

Theme: “Fashion Meets Technology”
Trust Nana to leave us gasping. In a sculptural, metallic ensemble that looked like it was forged in the stars, her look combined the craftsmanship of Metal Bender Studio (Ghana) with the flair of Nicole Stylish (Ghana). It was bold, ethereal, and refreshingly avant-garde, a fashion-forward love letter to African innovation in design.
3. Mercy Eke

Theme: “Diamonds, Water and Light”
Mercy stunned in a crimson number with feathers and flames, exuding confidence, drama, and resilience. Designed by Amy Aghomi (Nigeria) and styled by styled by maklinscout
4. Mercy Aigbe x Veekee James

Theme: “Celestial Harmony”
Imagine if the moon kissed the sun and sprinkled a little stardust in between — that’s the magic Mercy Aigbe brought. Her ensemble, a dreamy constellation of golds and silvers, was brought to life by the talented Veekee James (Nigeria). Flowing fabric, intricate beadwork, and a majestic silhouette made her look like the sky had descended for one night only.
5. Akin Faminu x Deji & Kola

Theme: “The Bold Bloom”
Now, this is how you serve male elegance with flair. Styled in a tailored masterpiece by Deji & Kola (Nigeria), Akin Faminu’s wide-leg suit was sharp, suave, and unapologetically loud thanks to that giant red rose lapel accent. It was a nod to masculine softness and the blooming of African men redefining red carpet fashion.
6. Uche Jombo

Uche Jombo exuded grace in a clean, minimalist gown by Oga Okoro. Styled by Dozie Jacobs, the ensemble's simplicity highlighted the actress's poise and the enduring strength of African women in film.
And these? These are just a few of the many stunning looks that turned the AMVCA red carpet into a high-fashion gallery of African brilliance. The 11th edition wasn’t just about who won awards, it was about how we’re showing up, literally and figuratively, in film and fashion. The synergy between designers, stylists, and celebrities revealed a rising wave of artistry that’s uniquely African, boldly expressive, and globally competitive.
