Picture this. Four powerhouse women in Nollywood decided not to wait for anyone’s permission. They came together, pooled their creativity, resources and vision and gave us Gingerrr. In a world where women are too often pushed to the background of the film industry, this moment feels essential. It shows what happens when women decide to back one another and create something that speaks louder than any limitation.

Wumi Toriola, Kie Kie, Bolaji Ogunmola and Bisola Aiyelola are not only acting in this film, but they also produced and made their mark with this movie. Watching them hold this space reminds us that the Black film industry carries a kind of power that thrives on collaboration. When we create together, the results are bigger than the sum of their parts. Gingerrr is proof of that.
The movie premiered officially Yesterday, September 21st, and industry celebrities, colleagues, and fans came out in full force to stand with the cast and celebrate what these women built. The energy was electric and they sure made the red carpet feel like a community.

And from the little we’ve seen online, the film promises plenty. The teasers are filled with mystery, suspense and those sharp comic edges that Nollywood does so well. Every clip hints at secrets unravelling, relationships tested and a showdown that will leave us talking long after the credits roll.
